  • 13 Final Thoughts on My Top Sneakers for Summer

When it comes to my top sneakers for summer, the criteria are pretty simple: comfort, breathability, and serious style. Living in New Zealand, where summer footwear usually means bare feet or jandals, it feels almost ironic to dive into a sneaker list—but here we are. For me, summer sneakers should be light, low-cut, and versatile enough to rock with shorts or breezy pants.

Whether you’re heading to the beach, the city, or just hanging out, this is my go-to lineup for the hottest months. Let’s jump into my top sneakers for summer in 2025.

No2Ways Vaults: London-Inspired Summer Heat

Starting strong with the No2Ways Vaults, which arrived as a surprise package. These low-top sneakers draw inspiration from the streets of London and absolutely nail it in terms of design. The colorway hits hard with an earthy vibe reminiscent of the Travis Scott “Medium Olive” aesthetic.

No2Ways Vaults
  • Pros: Premium materials, standout colorway, gum sole.
  • Cons: Harder to source outside the UK.

These are one of those low-key bangers that can elevate even the simplest summer outfit.

Jordan 1 Low Obsidian: A Summer Staple

Jordan 1 Low Obsidian
Jordan 1 Low Obsidian

The Jordan 1 Low Obsidian doesn’t have the same hype as its high-top cousin, but that’s exactly why it works. It’s a timeless sneaker with an easy-to-style color palette and a shape that pairs perfectly with shorts.

  • Pros: Easy slip-on design, great for casual or semi-dressy fits.
  • Cons: Lacks the “wow” factor of newer releases.

For me, this is one of the most reliable picks from my top sneakers for summer rotation.

Jordan 4 “Brick by Brick”: Comfort Meets Edge

This release surprised me. The Jordan 4 Brick by Brick brings solid materials, a rough mudguard, and small design details that stand out—like the mini Swoosh up front. I wore them for a full day around town and was honestly impressed by the comfort level.

  • Pros: Soft tongue, plush collar, bold summer statement.
  • Cons: Loud colorway might not be for everyone.

These are best worn with a basic outfit to let the sneakers speak for themselves.

Asics GT 2160 “Green Goblin”: Functional Mesh Runner

Asics GT 2160 "Green Goblin"
Asics GT 2160 Green Goblin

Mesh runners are dominating right now, and the Asics GT 2160—especially in this Green Goblin colorway—hits all the right notes. It’s breathable, lightweight, and works as both a workout and lifestyle shoe.

  • Pros: Versatile, comfy, great for gym-to-street transitions.
  • Cons: Niche design appeal.

They’re a strong contender in my top sneakers for summer, especially when comfort is a priority.

Saucony Progrid Omni 9 x Foot Patrol: Underrated and Reliable

Another mesh runner, the Saucony Progrid Omni 9, brings serious summer energy with a layered design and breathable build. I’ve taken these to the beach already this year, and they’ve held up well.

  • Pros: Good beach shoe, durable, true to size.
  • Cons: Slightly less cushion than Asics.

Perfect for day trips, dog walks, or light hikes in warm weather.

New Balance 1906R x Aimé Leon Dore: Luxury on Feet

Now we’re getting fancy. The New Balance 1906R in the ALD collab version feels like slipping into a five-star hotel robe. The terry cloth lining is next-level cozy, and the design is as clean as it gets.

  • Pros: Luxurious materials, sleek aesthetic, breathable.
  • Cons: Pricey collab, but general releases are available.

Without question, one of my top sneakers for summer thanks to its elevated comfort and effortless look.

Nike Air Zoom Spiridon x Fragment: Sleek and Simple

Pulled from last year’s rotation, the Spiridon x Fragment collab still holds up beautifully. Minimalist design and summer-friendly colors make this a no-brainer.

  • Pros: Clean aesthetic, great collab piece.
  • Cons: Runs narrow—go half a size up.

A smart pick for minimalists who want style without the flash.

Nike Air Force III x Nigo: Chunky Retro Cool

The Air Force III Nigos are a chunky throwback that’s all about personality. They’re heavy, yes, but the style points are off the charts. Just make sure you lace them up tight—they’re slippery if you don’t.

  • Pros: Vintage appeal, solid construction.
  • Cons: Very heavy, best for short outings.

Despite the bulk, they still made it into my top sneakers for summer for pure nostalgic vibes.

Air Tech Challenge II: Low-Key Summer Statement

These might have flown under the radar, but the Air Tech Challenge II in hot pink accents scream summer. Comfortable, clean, and underrated, they’re an easy win.

  • Pros: Affordable, clean silhouette, summer-ready colorway.
  • Cons: Less buzz than other retros.

Ideal with denim shorts and a tee—simple and effective.

Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll”: The Ultimate Summer Sneaker

This is it. My number one pick for summer 2025 is the Air Max 1 Chlorophyll. With its breathable build, perfect color blocking, and classic shape, it doesn’t get more versatile than this.

  • Pros: Timeless design, perfect colorway, ultra-comfy.
  • Cons: None. This is peak summer sneaker.

If I had to pick just one from my top sneakers for summer, it would be this.

Everyday Summer Beaters: Vomero 18 and Pegasus Premium

Not every summer moment calls for heat on feet. For quick errands or all-day walking, I rely on two pairs:

  • Nike Vomero 18: Lightweight and supportive. Downside? White mesh gets dirty quick.
  • Pegasus Premium: Great for light runs and casual wear. Just solid all-around.

They may not be flashy, but they’re essential in any summer rotation.

Honorable Mentions

  • Asics Gel-Lyte III x Evisu: Stylish and classic, great for streetwear fits.
  • Travis Scott Jordan 1 “Medium Olive”: Been wearing these heavy, still love them.
  • Nike Rejuvenates: My go-to comfort shoe. I wear these around the house, with the dogs, after workouts—you name it.

Final Thoughts on My Top Sneakers for Summer

Everyone’s summer style is different, but I think versatility is key. From bold Jordans to mesh runners and comfy beaters, my top sneakers for summer rotation balances hype, comfort, and personal expression. Whether you’re exploring the city, hitting the beach, or just keeping cool on a hot day, this list has you covered.

Let me know which pairs you’re rocking this summer—and if there’s a must-have I should check out, drop a comment below!
